Ghanaian singer-songwriter Gyakie recently talked about what inspired her album title, ‘After Midnight’. She gave us a peek into her creative process during an interview on the show ‘Daybreak Hitz’ with Doreen Avio.
In the interview, Gyakie explained that she didn’t just pick the name for fun. Instead, it reflects the special time when she created her music. The quiet hours after midnight became her favorite time to work.
“The name After Midnight came from how and when the songs were recorded,” she shared.
Gyakie loves to record her music in the early morning when most people are asleep. “That’s when everything is calm, and I can really focus on my music. It’s always been my favorite time of day, so the name of the project just made sense,” she said.
For Gyakie, this album is not just a bunch of songs; it’s a big deal for her personally. She compared making it to a mother getting ready to have her first baby.
“This project, every time I talk about it, I feel like a mother about to give birth to her first child,” Gyakie explained. She believes that an album is a true reflection of an artist, especially when it’s their first one.
So, for Gyakie, ‘After Midnight’ is more than just music; it’s a piece of her heart and soul!
