Moliy’s basically out here living the indie dream, and honestly, she’s not shy about saying labels just aren’t her thing. She told Revolt T in this interview pretty chill, actually that she’s always been kinda wary of signing to a label. Too many horror stories floating around, you know? She just wants to vibe with people she trusts, not be some random name buried in a spreadsheet. Music’s personal for her, not just a job.
And when they asked if her independence was an accident or a choice, she was straight-up: nope, she never wanted to be tied down in the first place. Girl’s got boundaries, can’t blame her.
Look at her now international buzz, people know her, all without a label breathing down her neck. So, yeah, clearly she’s onto something.
Her words? “I’ve always been kind of hesitant to be a label artist because I’ve just heard so many stories. I always feel like the people I work with, I want to trust them. I want it to feel organic. I don’t just wanna be a name on a list. Music is very personal to me.”
She did admit, though, if she ever did sign, it’d have to be real like, none of that fake industry handshake stuff. Real trust. Real vibes.
But the freedom? That’s the good stuff. She gets to create whatever she wants, no suit in an office telling her to crank out radio hits. “I don’t like being told what to do,” she said. And honestly, who does? Plus, if she’s not hustling, who will? That’s her thing she’s gotta keep her own foot on the gas.
Of course, it’s not all unicorns and glitter. She hit some rough patches, especially when it came to getting her music out there. Distribution’s a beast if you don’t have label muscle. There was this whole year in 2024 where nothing dropped she and her manager were hustling for a distribution deal, but it just dragged on. All talk, no action. She finally just said, “Well, f**k it, I still wanna move. I don’t wanna be stagnant.” And honestly? Mood.
That’s Moliy. Doing her own thing, on her own terms. Not waiting for anyone’s green light.
