Ghana’s Black Queens just packed their bags and switched things up, ditching Benslimane for Siaïda to get ready for WAFCON 2024. Why the move? Well, their pre-tournament bootcamp wrapped up—two weeks of sweating it out, running drills, and, you know, trying to look sharp for the cameras (and the competition).
They didn’t just train, though. The Queens hit the pitch for three friendlies, taking on Malawi, Benin, and Nigeria. Not exactly a walk in the park, but hey, what’s prep without a little chaos?
Now, with all the warm-ups out of the way, it’s game face time. These ladies missed the last couple of WAFCONs, so, trust me, they’re hungry for a comeback. Like, hangry hungry.
Quick heads-up: the tournament’s going down in Morocco, July 5th to 26th. Ghana’s landed in Group C—right alongside the reigning champs, South Africa, plus Mali and Tanzania. Not exactly a chill group, if you ask me.
Oh, and fun fact: this is the first time the Black Queens are back at the big dance since 2018. Long time coming. Let’s see if they can make some noise.
