Chris Brown, the “Turn Up The Music” he’s back in the headlines, but not for a new single. The dude just showed up in a London court and said “not guilty” to a couple charges over a bottle incident at a club two years ago. He’s 36 now, if you can believe it, and apparently things got messy with a music producer at Tape nightclub in Soho, February 2023. Prosecutors are saying Chris went after the guy with a tequila bottle unprovoked, they claim. Talk about a bad night out.
So, the charges? He’s now got two more on the pile: one for actual bodily harm, and one for carrying an offensive weapon (yup, the tequila bottle). All that on top of a heavier charge attempted grievous bodily harm which he already denied. His trial? Not until October 2026. That’s ages away. He strolled into court in a brown suit and some slick glasses, waved at the crowd, did the hand-on-heart thing, and about 20 diehard fans showed up to cheer him on. Two even shouted “we love you Chris!” as he left. Ride or die, I guess.
Apparently, the whole thing went down when Abraham DiawB he’s the alleged victim was at the bar. Chris allegedly hit him a few times with the bottle. Not exactly what you expect from a night in Soho, unless you’re in a Guy Ritchie film or something.
Cops picked Chris up at the Lowry hotel in Salford back in May when he came back to the UK for his European tour. He ended up in custody for nearly a week, but got out after dropping a cool £5 million as a security fee. That’s not pocket change even for a superstar. If he skips town, the court keeps the cash. Fair deal.
Now, he’s got to stay at a UK address and hand over his passport. But he’s allowed to get it back whenever he has to jet off for his Breezy Bowl XX world tour so the show goes on. He’s been playing stadiums left and right, wrapping up in Paris just last weekend. Next up: North America. The tour keeps rolling till October.
Next court date? October 24th. Mark your calendars, I guess.
Oh, and HoodyBaby real name Omololu Akinlolu he’s in this too. He also pleaded not guilty. Honestly, this is like the weirdest R&B tour drama ever.
