Honestly, Kwesi Ernest just went off (in the best way) about this whole “gospel musicians should always turn the other cheek” nonsense. The dude’s not just some random he runs Media Excel Productions and seriously knows the industry inside out. On GhOne TV’s The Toast Show, when they brought up “Societal Expectations of a Gospel Musician,” he didn’t sugarcoat it: being a gospel artiste doesn’t mean you’ve got to let people walk all over you.
Basically, his stance? If someone’s coming for you throwing shade, dropping insults on socials you don’t have to sit there like some kind of saintly punching bag. Block them, clap back, whatever. You’re human. You exist. You’ve got every right to stand your ground.
He even called out how society loves to use religion as a stick to keep gospel musicians silent. Like, oh, you’re religious, so you’re not allowed to defend yourself? Please. Ernest literally said, if some random kid pops up on social media talking trash, respond! Don’t just let them get away with it.
Honestly, he nailed it: gospel musicians are constantly being held to these wild moral standards higher than anyone else, really. People take advantage of that. And as he put it, “When we get to heaven, we will all answer to that.” So, maybe let gospel artists live a little down here, yeah?
