Passenger arrivals at Kotoka International Airport declined by 10.3% year-on-year, coming in at 98,146 for March 2025 down from 109,380 in March of last year. Still, there was a slight bright spot: month-on-month, tourist arrivals edged up by 2.2%.
Looking at the first quarter as a whole, arrivals at both the airport and land borders totaled 295,415, which is a 4.1% decrease compared to the 308,024 recorded during the same period in 2024.
Over at the ports, the picture looks much more positive. Tema and Takoradi harbours saw international trade activity, measured by laden container traffic, improve significantly. In March 2025, container traffic jumped 22% year-on-year to reach 73,577.
For the first quarter overall, cumulative container traffic rose by 20.5% to 205,145 compared to the previous year. So, while passenger numbers cooled off, the ports experienced robust growth.
