Asante Kotoko's head coach, Abdul Karim Zito, is really excited about the MTN FA Cup! He knows that winning the cup is super important right now because the team’s chances of winning the Ghana Premier League are looking pretty slim.
In their last game, the Porcupine Warriors played against Bibiani GoldStars, and it ended in a 1-1 tie at DUN’s Park. This draw meant they lost two important points in the league.
Now, Kotoko is sitting in third place on the league table with 55 points, which is five points behind the top team, Nations FC.
Coach Zito has been thinking a lot about how the team has played this season. He feels a bit sad about the chances they missed, especially in their recent games against Hearts of Oak and GoldStars. He believes these draws have hurt their chances of winning the league.
He said, “If I had won all the games, things would be different. I missed out against Hearts of Oak, and if I had won that game, we would be in a better spot. The same goes for today’s game.”
Even though the league isn’t going as planned, Zito is staying positive! He is determined to finish the season strong and bring home a trophy. He sees the upcoming FA Cup final against Golden Kick FC as a fantastic chance to win something special for the club.
He confidently stated, “I have an FA Cup final to play, and I really want to win the cup for Asante Kotoko!”
Mark your calendars! Asante Kotoko will be playing against Golden Kick FC in the MTN FA Cup final on June 15 at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium. Let’s cheer them on!
