Inaki Williams, a forward for Athletic Bilbao and the Ghana national team, is super excited to have won the African Player of the Year Award in Spain's La Liga!
He earned this awesome award after the 2024-2025 season, beating out other talented players like Chidera Ejuke from Nigeria, who plays for Sevilla.
At 30 years old, Williams had a busy season, playing in 50 games overall. Out of those, he played 35 matches in the league, scoring six goals and providing eight assists to help his team. That’s a lot of hard work!
This win is special for Williams because it’s his second time receiving this award. He also won it last year at the end of the 2023-2024 season. Now, he’s aiming to make it three wins in a row!
“Winning an award like this shows that I’m doing things right. I’m really happy and proud to have won it two years in a row. I hope I can make it three! It’s a big honor to represent my roots and to shine a light on a league that means so much to me,” Williams shared.
Williams also hopes that more African players will continue to make a big impact in La Liga. “We’re all doing a great job,” he said, showing his support for his fellow players.
So, let’s cheer for Inaki Williams and all the amazing things he’s doing on and off the field!
