Miss England 2024, Milla Magee, has decided to leave the Miss World 2025 pageant happening in Telangana, India. She said her choice was based on personal and ethical reasons. Milla, who is 24 years old, flew to Hyderabad on May 7 but returned to the UK just nine days later, on May 16, which means she won’t be competing anymore.
After Milla’s departure, Charlotte Grant, who was the runner-up in the Miss England competition, has stepped in to represent England at the pageant. This was confirmed by someone from the Miss World Organisation, so England will still have a contestant in the competition.
Milla shared her feelings with a British newspaper called The Sun. She was unhappy with the atmosphere of the pageant, saying it didn’t match her idea of “beauty with a purpose.”
According to reports, contestants were expected to wear makeup all the time and stay in fancy ball gowns even during breakfast! Milla said she felt uncomfortable when they were asked to mingle with older men as a way to thank them for their financial support of the event. This was the moment she decided she couldn’t continue.
Julia Morley, who is the Chairman and CEO of the Miss World Organisation, spoke about Milla’s situation. She mentioned that Milla had asked to leave because of a family emergency related to her mother’s health.
Julia said they acted quickly to help Milla get back home, putting her and her family’s well-being first. However, she also pointed out that some UK media outlets were spreading false information about Milla’s experience in India, claiming that these statements were not true and didn’t reflect what really happened during her time at the pageant.
