President John Dramani Mahama is making it clear that his government is serious about keeping the country’s finances in check. He’s asking businesses to pitch in and help Ghana bounce back economically by lowering the prices of their goods and services. This request comes after the cedi, which is Ghana's currency, has become stronger.
At the 9th Ghana CEO Summit and Awards Expo, President Mahama took a moment to thank companies that have already lowered their prices. He specifically praised the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) for cutting down transport fares, which is great news for everyone who uses public transport.
“GPRTU, thank you very much,” he said, showing his appreciation.
The President is encouraging other businesses that haven’t yet adjusted their prices to do so. He wants them to share the benefits of the stronger cedi with the people of Ghana. He assured business owners that the government will keep working hard to manage the country’s finances and help the economy grow.
“I commend all businesses that have acted in good faith by lowering prices in line with the cedi’s performance. This gesture helps ease the financial burden on citizens and shows true partnership in national development,” President Mahama added.
In short, he believes that when businesses work together with the government, it can make life a little easier for everyone in Ghana!
