Bruno Fernandes, a star player for Manchester United, recently shared that he got a huge offer from a team called Al-Hilal. But guess what? He decided to stick with Manchester United!
There’s been a lot of talk about Bruno lately, especially after Manchester United lost a big game against Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Europa League final. The final score was 1-0, and it was a tough loss for the team. This season has been pretty rough for the Red Devils, as they didn’t win any trophies and ended up in a low spot, finishing 15th in the Premier League.
The only time they won against a team that wasn’t going to be kicked out of the league was on the last day of the season when they beat Aston Villa, who had only 10 players on the field!
After the game against Bilbao, Bruno hinted that even though he loves playing for Manchester United, the team might think about selling him. Recently, there were reports that Al-Hilal offered a whopping £100 million to Manchester United and promised Bruno a salary of £700,000 every week!
On Tuesday, before a big match against Germany in the UEFA Nations League semi-final, Bruno talked about the offer. He said, “Yes, there was a chance to move. The president of Al-Hilal called me a month ago to discuss it.”
He mentioned that it was a really big and exciting offer, and he took some time to think about what he wanted for his future. Bruno said, “I would have considered it if Manchester United wanted to sell me. I even talked to my coach, Ruben Amorim, who tried to convince me to stay.”
The club told Bruno they wouldn’t sell him unless he really wanted to leave. If he had decided to go, they would have made it happen. Bruno also spoke with his wife and family about his career goals.
Bruno thought about it and realized that while it might have been easy to go to Al-Hilal, he wants to keep playing at a high level in big competitions. He feels he can do it and is happy with his choice to stay at Manchester United.
This season, Bruno has been a key player for the team, leading in both goals and assists, with 19 of each across all competitions. He’s also close to reaching a big milestone in his career in England, sitting at 98 goals as he heads into his seventh season.
As the captain of the team, Bruno has already won the League Cup and FA Cup with Manchester United, and he has been the top scorer in the Europa League twice, earning some runner-up medals along the way.
