President John Dramani Mahama has, effective immediately, revoked the appointment of Anne Sansa Daly as a member of the Board of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA).
In a statement issued on May 23 and signed by the Secretary to the President, Callistus Mahama, it was announced that Prof. Dr. (Med) Ernest Yorke has been nominated to succeed her on the Board.
The statement did not provide an official reason for the revocation of Anne Sansa Daly’s appointment; however, it confirmed that the decision takes effect immediately, as communicated by the presidency.
Prof. Dr. Ernest Yorke, who is set to join the NHIA Board, is a medical professional with a robust background in healthcare and academia. His nomination is anticipated to enhance the governance and oversight of the NHIA, which is instrumental in managing Ghana’s national health insurance policy and delivery.
The National Health Insurance Authority is responsible for ensuring equitable access to quality healthcare services through the administration of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), a flagship social intervention program.
