In celebration of Mother's Day, Geisha, Ghana's premier soap brand from Unilever, made donations earlier this month to two prominent hospitals in Ghana. Aligned with Geisha's recent positioning of "Gifts of Nature, Wrapped by Geisha," the brand aimed to assist mothers who received their gifts earlier than anticipated.
On Monday, May 5, 2025, representatives from Geisha visited the Tema General Hospital, followed by a visit to the Tamale Teaching Hospital on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, to donate essential products and support mothers of preterm infants. This initiative was dedicated to providing resources for mothers of preterm babies, acknowledging the distinct challenges they encounter.
The Geisha team, alongside Unilever Super Moms—a group of committed Unilever mothers passionate about supporting mothers and children—delivered hampers filled with Unilever products, including Geisha Black Soap, Geisha Lemon & Honey, Geisha Aloe Vera & Honey, Geisha Rose & Honey, Sunlight Soap, and Comfort Fabric Softener. These products were meticulously chosen to offer gentle and effective care for both mothers and their newborns. In total, over 500 mothers received hampers from Geisha.
Additionally, the Gifty Anti Foundation contributed a vital incubator to the Tema General Hospital, while the Teiya Foundation made a similar donation to the Tamale Teaching Hospital. These incubators will provide essential care for preterm infants, enhancing their chances of survival and healthy development.
“At Geisha, we believe that the miracle of childbirth is a gift, and every mother deserves to hold their child, regardless of how early they arrive,” stated Frederick Asare, Unilever Marketing Manager, Skin Cleanse. “This Mother’s Day, we aimed to demonstrate our support for preterm mothers and equip them with the necessary resources to thrive. We are proud to collaborate with these hospitals and foundations to positively impact the lives of these families.”
Gifty Anti, a well-known influencer and founder of the Gifty Anti Foundation, expressed her personal connection to the cause, remarking, “As a mother, I appreciate the incredible strength and resilience of women. I am honored to partner with Geisha to support preterm mothers and provide them with the care and resources they deserve. Every baby deserves a fighting chance, and I am dedicated to helping make that a reality.”
Teiya Dramani, Ghana’s Most Beautiful 2022 and founder of the Teiya Foundation, highlighted the significance of maternal health, stating, “Investing in maternal health is investing in the future of Ghana. Preterm babies require specialized care, and it is our duty to ensure that hospitals have the resources needed to provide that care. We are grateful to Geisha for their dedication to this cause and look forward to continuing our collaboration to support mothers and children across the country.”
Representatives from both the Tema General Hospital and the Tamale Teaching Hospital expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Geisha, the Unilever Super Moms, the Gifty Anti Foundation, and the Teiya Foundation for their generous contributions. They underscored the urgent need for additional incubators, neonatal ventilators, phototherapy units, and other resources to enhance the care of preterm infants. They also called for ongoing support to address the challenges faced by preterm mothers and their families.
This Mother's Day initiative highlights Geisha's commitment to supporting mothers and families in Ghana, particularly those confronting the unique challenges of preterm birth.
