The Oklahoma City Thunder had an amazing game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, winning and getting closer to the NBA Finals! With this victory, they are just one win away from making it to the big championship game.
At halftime, the Thunder was ahead 65-57, and by the end of the third quarter, they were still in the lead at 90-85. But the Timberwolves didn’t give up easily and fought hard to come back. In the end, the Thunder won with a score of 128-126, taking a 3-1 lead in the series, which is best out of seven games.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was the star of the night! He scored 40 points, grabbed nine rebounds, and made 10 assists. In the last 15 seconds of the game, he made five out of six free throws, which helped seal the victory for the Thunder.
Jalen Williams also had a great game, scoring 34 points with 13 successful shots out of 24 attempts. Chet Holmgren contributed 21 points, making nine out of 14 shots. The team really bounced back after a tough loss in the previous game, where they lost 143-101.
After the game, Gilgeous-Alexander said, “We did a good job of staying in the moment tonight.” He mentioned that they wanted to forget about their last game and focus on what they could control. He added, “Tonight wasn’t perfect, but we gave ourselves a chance… and we got a W,” which means they got the win!
The Timberwolves played hard too! Nickeil Alexander-Walker scored 23 points from the bench, Jaden McDaniels added 22 points, and Donte DiVincenzo finished with 21 points. Alexander-Walker said, “Everything is out there. There’s no secrets. They know how to beat us. We know how to beat them.” He emphasized that it’s all about who wants it more and who can stay consistent.
The Thunder will have a chance to win the series in game five, which will be played in Oklahoma on Wednesday. If they win, they will make it to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2012! They would then face either the Indiana Pacers or the New York Knicks. Exciting times ahead for the Thunder!
