Following her sentencing to 15 years in prison by an Accra Circuit Court, Patricia Asiedua widely recognized as Nana Agradaa and founder of Heaven Way Ministries International issued a brief public statement. The court, overseen by Justice Evelyn Amoah, found her guilty on several counts, including defrauding by false pretence and engaging in misleading advertisements. The charges centered around allegations that she persuaded members of her congregation to hand over substantial sums of money with assurances of spiritual benefits and financial breakthroughs.
Shortly after the verdict, as she was being escorted from the courtroom, Nana Agradaa addressed both reporters and her supporters, urging them in Twi “mpaebɔ naaaa” to continue praying without ceasing.
The ruling has prompted significant public discourse. Some view the outcome as long-overdue justice, while others consider Nana Agradaa a casualty of religious discrimination.
Her husband, Mr. Eric Oduro Asiamah, characterized the judgment as unjust. He maintained that the funds in question were voluntary contributions, consistent with common church practices such as tithes and offerings. He further insisted that his wife did not coerce anyone and suggested the court misunderstood her intentions.
Nana Agradaa is set to commence her 15-year sentence immediately.
