Kurt Okraku, the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), is really excited about how the Black Stars are doing lately. He believes the team is getting better and better!
Last year was a bit rough for the Black Stars. They only won two out of ten games and didn’t make it to the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). That was a big disappointment for everyone who loves football in Ghana. But guess what? The team has turned things around this year!
Earlier this year, the Black Stars won two important matches against Chad and Madagascar during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. This has given everyone hope and excitement about the team’s future.
Okraku said, “The Black Stars have had a not-too-stable performance. But I think that our call to the entire sporting public to be supportive of the Black Stars has yielded good results. The confidence of the boys seems to be back.” This means that the support from fans is really helping the players feel good and play better!
Right now, the Black Stars are in London for a cool tournament called the Unity Cup. They are competing against teams from Trinidad and Tobago, Nigeria, and Jamaica. Their first match is against their big rivals, Nigeria, on May 28.
The winner of this match will go to the final, while the team that loses will play for third place. It’s a big deal, and everyone is looking forward to it!
After the Unity Cup, the Black Stars will get back to World Cup qualifying games in September. They will be playing against Chad and Mali on Matchday 7 and 8. The team is hoping to keep their winning streak going and make their fans proud!
