Asante Kotoko's coach, Abdul Karim Zito, recently shared how much they missed their star striker, Kwame Opoku, during a match against Bibiani GoldStars that ended in a 0-0 tie.
The game took place at DUN’s Park on Sunday, and unfortunately, the Porcupine Warriors couldn’t score any goals. Opoku wasn’t there because he had traveled to England to join the Black Stars for the upcoming Unity Cup.
After the match, Coach Zito expressed his disappointment about not having Opoku on the field. He said, “I really missed one of my best players, and his absence definitely affected our game. I wish he could have played with us, but I understand that he needs to move forward in his football career.”
He also added, “I’m not upset with him at all. I want him to go there and do well. Yes, I miss him, but I’m happy for his opportunity.”
Even though the game ended in a draw, Kotoko is still in the running for the Ghana Premier League title. However, they will need some help from other teams to keep their hopes alive.
With only two games left in the season, the Porcupine Warriors are hoping that both Nations FC and GoldStars lose some points.
Kotoko is looking to bounce back and get a win when they play against Medeama SC in their next match at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday. Let’s see if they can turn things around!
