Ghanaian musician Gyakie is set to perform at the inaugural Afro Jam Festival in Japan.
Scheduled for July 18 to 27, 2025, Gyakie will take the stage on July 18 in Okinawa, July 24 in Osaka, and July 27 in Tokyo.
The Afro Jam Festival will also feature performances from other artists, including Jason Derulo, Rema, Ruger, and Shenseea.
In an interview with Kwame Dadzie on Joy FM's Showbiz A-Z, Gyakie expressed her excitement, stating that her fans in Japan are eagerly anticipating her performance.
"I have received numerous messages from my supporters in Japan expressing their eagerness for my arrival.
Upon learning that I was requested for this performance, I had to fully absorb the fact that I would be traveling to Asia. It is truly hard to believe," she remarked.
The Afro Jam Festival aims to introduce and celebrate Afrobeats culture.
As Japan rapidly becomes a significant market for Afrobeats, the festival is expected to reinforce the global appeal of this music genre.
Gyakie joins a growing list of Ghanaian musicians who have recently expanded their reach in Asian markets, alongside artists such as King Promise, KiDi, and the Santrofi band.
In the meantime, Gyakie has released a new single titled "Sankofa," which is part of her forthcoming album, "After Midnight."
