Ghanaian actor and filmmaker Kwadwo Nkansah, commonly known as Lil Win, has asserted that he declined a $20,000 offer to halt the production of his upcoming film focused on Burkina Faso’s military leader, Captain Ibrahim Traoré.
The eagerly awaited film, titled *The Last African Hero*, serves as a biographical account of Traoré’s ascent to power and leadership in Burkina Faso.
The project has generated significant interest since Lil Win released a teaser trailer on May 21, featuring cast members, including himself, attired in military uniforms reminiscent of Traoré and his revolutionary associates.
However, the film’s production has encountered controversy. In a video shared on social media, Lil Win revealed that he and his team were approached by an unidentified individual, allegedly sent by a powerful figure who sought to prevent the movie from reaching completion.
“A man I do not know approached me,” Lil Win stated in the video. “He indicated that his superior had tasked him with persuading me to abandon the project. He mentioned that there were gifts prepared for my team and me — and to demonstrate his seriousness, he presented $20,000.”
Lil Win displayed what appeared to be an envelope filled with U.S. dollars in the video, emphasizing that he rejected the bribe out of principle and dedication to the film’s mission.
“I am not for sale,” he declared emphatically. “This story deserves to be told.”
Despite the attempts to suppress the project, Lil Win has garnered substantial support from fans and notable figures within the Ghanaian creative industry. Veteran hiplife musician Okyeame Kwame is among those publicly endorsing the actor, encouraging him to remain resolute and proceed with the film's release.
