Malik Basintale, the Chief Executive Officer of Ghana’s Youth Employment Agency (YEA), has expressed a desire to collaborate with Shatta Wale’s ride-hailing initiative, Shaxi.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Basintale directly reached out to the dancehall artist, suggesting a partnership to elevate Shaxi into a distinguished, fully Ghanaian-owned brand.
He stated: “Dear @shattawalegh, As CEO of YEA, I am enthusiastic about this opportunity! Let’s collaborate to make Shaxi a prominent Ghanaian-owned venture. I look forward to hearing from you soon!”
Basintale’s message came in response to Shatta Wale’s repost of a video advocating for government and private sector support and investment in Shaxi.
In the video caption, the leader of the Shatta Movement remarked: “I appreciate the sudden support for Shaxi and the calls for the Government of Ghana to invest in it.
“Thank you all for believing in the African dream. Shaxi is not merely a ride-hailing service; it is a movement aimed at empowering the youth, creating jobs, and fostering digital innovation within our transport sector. At its essence, Shaxi embodies a sustainable solution to unemployment and serves as a bold example of the impact that can be achieved when creativity aligns with purpose.”
