Black Stars coach Otto Addo has underscored the significance of defeating Angola to save Ghana's expectations of fitting the qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) alive.
The four-time AFCON champions are facing a difficult qualification mission and risk missing out the competition for the first time in 20 years.
Ghana began its qualifying mission with a 1-0 lose to Madagascar at Baba Yara Stadium, trailed by a 1-1 draw against Niger. Trusts were high for a bounce back in a doubleheader against Sudan; notwithstanding, they were held to a 0-0 draw at the Accra Sports Stadium and later experienced a 2-0 loss in the bring leg back.
These disheartening outcomes have left the Dark Stars in fourth spot in Gathering F, with only two places. Niger's 4-0 win over Sudan on Thursday in Lomé has provided Ghana with a hint of something to look forward to, yet they should win their excess matches against Angola and Niger while trusting Sudan loses to Angola.
Ahead of the vital match against the Palancas Negras, Addo, 45, communicated trust in his players' psychological availability.
He told the Ghana FA site, "I think intellectually the young men are prepared. I'm anticipating that game. It's the ideal opportunity for our most memorable triumph in this opposition."
He added, "It's an incredible chance to keep our possibilities alive."
The match is planned to start off at 19:00 GMT.
