The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor, just got an important report from a group called the Petroleum Downstream Sector Reforms Committee (PDSRC). This group started working on March 14, 2025, to look at how Ghana's oil industry is doing.
The committee had a big job! They were asked to find ways to make the oil industry better, more honest, and able to last a long time.
When the committee shared their findings, the leader, Madam Emma Bulley, Esq., explained that the oil industry in Ghana has a lot of problems. Here are some of the issues they found:
- **Old Equipment**: There are problems with the tools and machines used in the industry.
- **Rules Not Followed**: Some companies aren’t following the rules they should.
- **Inefficiency**: Things aren’t running as smoothly as they could.
- **Market Issues**: There are challenges in how the market works.
- **Unfair Competition**: Some companies are doing sneaky things that make it hard for others.
- **Bad Quality Products**: Sometimes, the oil products aren’t as good as they should be.
- **Money Loss**: The country is losing money because of these problems.
But don’t worry! The committee has some great ideas to fix these issues. If everyone works together to make these changes, Ghana’s oil industry can become strong and competitive!
Hon. John Jinapor expressed his gratitude to the committee for their hard work and dedication.
“I want to thank everyone involved for their commitment and professionalism. I knew the committee would do an amazing job,” he said.
He also mentioned that they want to make big improvements in Ghana, especially in the energy sector. The oil industry is a key part of this plan, and they want to make sure everything runs better and more efficiently.
The committee is made up of several important people, including:
- Madam Emma Bulley, Esq. (Chairperson)
- Dr. Kwabena Donkor
- Ing. James D. Yamoah
- Abass Ibrahim Tasunti
- Joshua Anaman Sackey
- Samuel Mills Anderson
- Dr. Patrick Kwaku Ofori
- Dr. Riverson Oppong
