The New York Knicks pulled off an amazing comeback to win their first game in the NBA Eastern Conference playoffs against the Indiana Pacers! If they had lost, they would have been in a tough spot, down 3-0 in the series. But instead, they managed to turn things around and now only trail 2-1.
Karl-Anthony Towns was the hero of the night, scoring 20 points in the fourth quarter alone, helping the Knicks secure a crucial 106-100 victory. At one point, the Knicks were down by 20 points near the end of the second quarter, but Towns stepped up when it mattered most.
After trailing 80-70 at the end of the third quarter, Towns went on a scoring spree, putting up 15 points in just the first four minutes of the fourth quarter! He added five more points later on, making sure his team had a chance to win.
“I just wanted to go there to give our team a chance to win. I’m just happy I was able to do that,” Towns said after the game.
The Knicks had to fight hard to keep their lead, especially when the Pacers tried to make a comeback in the final moments of the game. Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart helped seal the victory with some important scores right at the end.
Pascal Siakam, a player for the Pacers, acknowledged Towns' great performance, saying, “He made some big plays for them.” He also mentioned that the Pacers struggled to stop the Knicks when it counted and didn’t play their usual style of basketball.
The next game, Game 4, will be held in Indianapolis on Tuesday at 8:00 PM local time (which is 1:00 AM BST on Wednesday). Fans are excited to see if the Knicks can keep up their winning streak!
